ISSUES
We researched a number of issues that Northumberland is faced with. Some mirror national issues and some are unique to Northumberland.
These are the findings of three reports and all mirror each other to a large extent. Certainly, there has been a steep rise in antisocial behaviour and drug
misuse.
County lines are a problem in most towns and villages. Rural crime involving farm equipment theft has risen as has poaching.
Theft from motor vehicles is presently, causing problems in and around the major towns.
Speaking to residents there is a feeling of no confidence regarding the police, NCC, Housing Agencies and Social Services.
Although these institutions/agencies are supposed to work together they appear not to be doing so. Problems with ASB are not shared amongst the different specialities which leads to delays and reports being missed. Internet access and speeds has improved, and some transport issues have also been addressed.
