After the general election this summer Reform UK undertook to set up a branch structure to provide a countrywide base for prospective parliamentary and local council candidates and assistance with canvassing in campaigning. The branches plan to organise rallies and events, where we can hear major speakers and disseminate ideas. It will give members a home where they can meet like minded people and from where ideas and talent can be nurtured and encouraged. We plan to form a young Reform group to reflect the interests and concerns of our younger members.
Reform required us to build a branch structure led by a chair assisted by a deputy chair, secretary, campaign manager and treasurer, other members may be co opted to as fundraisers, IT and communication support, social media coordinators and event organisers. Chairs were selected from prospective parliamentary candidates who had stood in the general election and local members who had already campaigned by elections, mayoral and council elections. Our present officers will be subject to re-election later this year and as Reform seeks to democratise.
Until September 2024 there was no representation of Reform in our constituency as there had been no local activism and no prospective parliamentary candidate for the general election. Since our first meeting in early October we have had an exceptional response, sixty-five members turned out on a drizzly Autumn night, demonstrating how strongly the need for an alternative to the established parties exists. Now we have a strong presence and are ready to campaign for the local council elections on May 1st while never unaware of the aim to seek the strongest representation in next general election.
We believe that our strength is in our appeal to a broad spectrum of people from every social group and in every geographical location. We have over 900 members in February 2025 and our numbers grow every day because our message resonates strongly with the feelings of so many of our fellow citizens. People who believe in family, community and country and wish to reunite our country under common sense policies, and with a shared vision. Please join us, all are welcome.
